Do you still need to be vaccinated to travel?

Travelling today is much different than it was in 2020 and throughout most of 2021. Many countries have fully lifted any covid-19 travel restrictions, including requiring proof of vaccination and/or a recent negative covid-19 test. From Europe to the Americas to Asia, you can now travel freely to several popular travel destinations.

However, if there’s one thing we’ve learned about the coronavirus, it’s that it’s unpredictable. That’s why you should always check the latest updates for the country you’ll be travelling to so that you'll be able to go on your trip. This is especially true if you’ll be travelling to multiple countries.

You should also check the latest government guidelines for the UK so you can return safely and without undue hassle.

Travel Vaccination services

One of the best ways to guarantee smooth travel is to ensure your covid-19 vaccines and boosters are up to date and to carry a covid-19 passport or proof of a negative test. Each of these services is available through Pond Pharmacy’s travel clinic services.

Unvaccinated Travel

A large number of countries will allow entry to unvaccinated visitors without the need to quarantine or provide proof of a negative covid-19 test. Currently, these countries include:

  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Barbados
  • Belgium
  • Canada
  • Cuba
  • Greece
  • Mexico
  • Portugal
  • Spain
  • Thailand
  • Turkey

Other countries will permit entry to people who are unvaccinated as long as they have tested negative for covid-19. These countries include India, Japan, Brazil, Peru, Haiti, and Tunisia.

The United States, Indonesia, and Pakistan require all visitors to be fully vaccinated to travel whether they have recently tested negative or not.

The covid-19 vaccine isn’t the only vaccine travellers should get before their trip. Depending on your destination, you may need to get one or more vaccines to protect yourself from exotic and foreign illnesses. Even if they aren’t required for entry, it’s still recommended you get certain vaccines to prevent getting sick from diseases like malaria, yellow fever, and Japanese encephalitis.
